THE PIR MOTION WATER CONTROLLER
(CABLE HARD WIRED CONNECTION)
THE CONTROL BOX
Control box measures 150 x 90 x 50mm can be installed flush or surface mounted
The PIR MOTION SENSOR THE FLOODCHECK VALVE
When fitted the PIR device will drastically save water and damage to property in homes office and factories.
The most serious damage is when leaks occur and the premises are vacant.
Sometimes for a few hours , sometimes for days or weeks.
If the water supply is turned off.. the leak will not occur ( see note below).
There is normally no need for the water supply to be on when the premises are vacant.
The Motion sensor water control will turn off the water after a short while if no movement ( or personal) is detected in the premise. As soon as they return the water will come back on.
Two models are available. One connects the Motion detector (PIR) to the control box by two core cabel supplied in the kit.
The other more expensive model uses wireless (radio) to connect the unit together. Otherwise they are the same.
This model shown is THE BASIC MODEL and contains , control box, the valve, power supply. and emergency lead, 3 meters twin core cable for connecting up the pir to the control box..and powerful rare earth magnet to protect the unit against limescale and metal object.
The PIR can be connected to the control box by normal two core cable, or we can supply a model with wireless ( radio) facility. The sensor can be fitted anywhere, and you can have as many sensors as you need. Typical only one is needed by the normal entry tom the premises. A second one upstairs might be useful.
This is how it works.
A solenoid valve (supplied) is fitted in line with your main water supply in your house. It is normally shut so the water is normally off in your house . Near to the main entrance of your home you fit a small motion detector (PIR) ( supplied) ,similar to the ones used on burglar alarms .
When the P.I.R. detects movement it will send as signal to the control box,
this in return will send a signal to the valve to open it for a pre set period of time.
You can set the time the valve then remains open to suit yourself.
Factory setting are ONE hour. You can select time on 4 minutes to 3 hours.
Time options are 4mins, 30 mins, 1 hour,1.5 hours,2 hours 2.5 hours,3 hours , 3.5 hours , and auto quick select buton for long periods 6 or 8 hours
The control box has a long period ( one off) override buton . Useful for watering the garden or if you want to take advantage of lower tarrif electricity rates at night times for the dishwasher or washing machine.
The four minute setting is ideal for unattended factory / offices toilets, wash rooms etc.
As long as anyone is moving in the area of the sensor the water will remain on .
When you vacate the premises, or go to bed, the water will go off after your preset time.
( say two hours)
You can fit as many Sensors as you need. For a small house only one is needed by the main entrance. If you have pet we can supply a special sensor that will ignore pets under a certain size ( 25Kilo mass) .So your cat or dog won't be turning your water on and off when your not at home. Or you can instll the snor at a hieght ab ove the pets. ( ask about per nuisance sensors)
If you feel you need another sensor upstairs you can purchase an additional PIR sensor which is either connected by a two core cable or can be Wireless model if you have the wireless control box.
When you return it will automatically turn the water back on. You can turn it off if you want to water the garden for longer than ONE HOUR . When you leave the home you can push a button which will turn off the PIR almost instantly to enable you to vacate without being detected and it will turn off the water. That way you don’t have to wait 2 hours for the water to go off after you vacate
Note: in the event of a power failure the valve will remain in the mode it was prior to the power failure.( normally it would be off .) so you could loose your water for the time the power is off.
However.. a small back up battery lead is supplied for emergency. This is plugged into a small 9 VOLT PP3 battery. It replaces the power supply and will restore your water in 20 seconds. It is intended as a temporary measure only. Not supplied but available at your local store
What about POWER CUTS? WOULD I LOSE MY WATER SUPPLY?
Floodcheck products have now been maufactured for over 8 years . and have been tested by water research companies and found to be very reliable, and is approved and recommended by them.
Many thousand have been installed. The reliability is very very high. However..as with anything,.a failure or problem could occur. It is designed that in the event of a power failure ther Floodcheck will remain in the mode it was in prior to the power cut. Normally the mode would be so that the water is ON so you would not lose your water.
For complete peace of mind consider have a manual byepass fitted by your plumber .These are available from us if a problem does occur, JUST LIFT THE LEVERS UP TO BYE PASS THE FLOODCHECK TEMPORARILY, andyou will have you water back on.When the manual bye pass is operated the Floodcheck may be removed completely for examination or service, and you will still have your full water supply... but of course no protection.

Bye pass kit is supplied as above ( but without the Floodcheck(r) valve
NOTE: Some installations may have water stored in tanks in the loft. Turning off the main water supply will not stop leaks from this but will drastically reduce the possible damage.
Remember you will also need pipe connectors to fit the valve to your pipes. 15 or 22mm. price is £9.50 per set of two. See accessories.
