The Auto model is still on of our most popular flood prevention devices. It is fitted by removing a short length of pipe just before the main shut off valve ( stopcock ) in your property.
Thus any water being used ( or leak) anywhere in your property will flow through the Floodcheck valve and be detected.
The kit comes complete with a very powerful RARE EARTH magnet which stops ferrous bit if metal entering the Floodcheck and possible damage, it also reduces substantially the amount of lime scale that might develop inside the valve. There is also an internal mechanical filter which stops any particles over 1mm getting into the Floodcheck. Very occasionally the filter will need to be washed out.
Inside the valve case there is a small turbine which rotates as water passes through. It sends a signal to the micro chip inside the case. This first records the air temperature inside the case, the length of time the water has been flowing , and the speed at which the water is being used. Experience has shown us that taps are rarely opened to their full extent, and water is used typically for only a few minutes at a time.
The occupier can adjust the time water is used to suit their use.. 10 – 40 minutes.
( 15 minutes being typical). And the max flow rate 10 -
If the Floodcheck detects water flowing continuously longer than the time the user has set, t will turn the water off...remember it could be a leaky pipe in the loft not a tap left running..2 Minutes before it shuts down it will give a series of high pitched bleeps to warn of the impending shut down. If the taps are turned off for 1 second the Floodcheck will reset itself for another time period, and the water will remain on. If the flow suddenly exceeds the max flow it will shut down in just 20 seconds as it would consider this a major rupture in the pipes somewhere. In the event the Floodcheck unit does shut down all that is needed is to push the reset button and AFTER 20 SECONDS the water will be restored.
As an optional accessory we now offer a REMOTE SWITCH for the auto. As can be seen from the photo. The remote switch can be installed anywhere in the house convenient, and will allow the user to reset the device, turn the water off. Bypass the protection for 1 hour ( to water the garden etc) , and turn off the water and isolate it from the mains supply while your are away from home. If you forget to turn the water off when you go away, the Floodcheck will detect this and if it does not detect any water used for any 24 hours period it will automatically turn the water off protecting your property until you return.
· So to recap. The Floodcheck auto will monitor your water useage 24.7 and will automatically turn off you water if
· Water is flowing longer than you want it to
· The temperature falls below 3deg Celsius
· The flow of water exceed the flow your have set it to.
· No water is used for any 24 hour period.
